Where does the time go?

Oh Wow! I just realized how long it's been since I last posted. Well, I've finished Best of Intentions and another novella entitled 'Seducing Sophie'. I'm getting ready to go back to my 'real life' job tomorrow after 6 months of seasonal layoff. It will be a bit of a transition and it does mean less time writing, but it will be nice to have a steady paycheck once again. How would you like to get to read a story for free? Okay, so maybe it's not without strings, but it won't cost you any money. Currently, I'm working on a rewrite for a story contracted to e-publisher Loose ID. Here's my problem, since this is a rewrite, I'm not sure if things work as I see them. That's where you come in. Agree to read my story and give me feedback on what worked and didn't and I'll not only send it to you for free, but I'll send you a free copy of my next release. Here's the thing. You need to be a fan of romance (erotic romance specifically) and know the ins and outs of the genre. Now, I'm not looking for somebody who's going to stroke my ego and tell me how wonderful I am. My editor isn't going to baby me and I don't expect you do either. So in two weeks my husband and I will be packing up the kiddos and heading West for our childhood homes and all of our families for Christmas. My mother, being the stubborn pain she is just now bought a computer. No lie she went out on black friday and bought one and she promises she'll have internet by the time we get there, but I know her and I'm holding my breath. So, because I'll probably be reduced to using the library's public computers to check my e-mail for the entire week I'm there, I'm making a call now for people to help me out and guest blog for a day on my wordpress blog. Doing the Happy Dance...well sort of!

I twisted my ankle over the weekend and am temporarily crippled *rolls eyes* so, mentally I'm doing the happy dance because also during the weekend I received conformation that the story idea my fellow critique partner Anne Douglas (www.annedouglas.blogspot.com) pitched to her publisher was accepted. I, Anne and fellow writer Amanda Young (www.amandayoung.org) have been contracted to each write a book in a series for Valentine's Day 2008. The stories, tentatively titled 'Husbands and Wives'- 'Husbands and Wives and Lovers' and 'Husbands and Husbands' are about what happens after the happily ever after. Can love survive once the newness has worn away and 'real life' takes hold. Stop by over at Loose Id and find out for yourself.

The Great Pumpkin Pie Debate.

So it's Thanksgiving and we've all stuffed ourselves with turkey and the associated fixings. Several hours later my husband reappears in the kitchen, after taking a break from the Rocky marathon he was watching, to get a piece of pumpkin pie. My son suggests putting the slice in the microwave to get it warm. An idea my husband immediately scoffs at. "You eat pumpkin pie cold." he replies as he dumps the coolwhip on top. Of course, being the opposite to him in nearly every way, I ask, 'Why not? I warmed up my slice of pie before I ate it." He proceeded to look at me like I had two heads and said that eating pumpkin pie warm was 'gross'. So, I bring the debate to you all. Hot or cold? How do you eat your pumpkin pie?

I finally have a print date for my story 'Beyond the Tears' which will be release as part of the Midsummer Night's Steam Anthology series. Sand, Sun and Sex which includes my story and stories from Jennifer Colgan, Sami Lee and Beth Williamson will be released May 2008!

Decisions, decisions!

Right now I'm in a bit of a quandry. Stuck in limbo waiting on a proposal approval, I'm torn as to what to write. Do I work on the story for the proposal that may or may not get picked up OR do I work on something else? I have several irons in the fire right now. An ms recent rejected but requested for a reread with changes, a 1/2 finished MS that I'm working on with fellow author Amanda Young or start an entirely new story for a different proposal at a different publisher that I know is going to get picked up? Yeah, I know, you're probably thinking how tough I have it and I'd be better off finding something else to worry over. I agree, except that I only have 5 months to write as much as possible before I go back to work at my seasonal job at a pool and spa dealer. Once I start work, the most I'll be able to do is edit, so for six months there will be no new stories. Every day I don't write right now is a day wasted. Opinions anyone? I'm open for suggestions.
